Title: Jr. Shopify eCommerce Developer 

Description: Join the team that builds world class online experiences for household names like Margaritaville, KISS, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney and more! BubbleUp’s eCommerce operation is growing quickly, and needs a quick learner to help build and maintain stores. This is a junior role on a fast-track path to a senior one.

Compensation: $35k-$60k /yr (based on exp)

Location: Woodlands, Tx (primarily onsite w/ limited remote)
Travel: None required  

Responsibilities:

  • Implement eCommerce functionality by configuring off-the-shelf Shopify plugins
  • Modify off-the-shelf Shopify themes to add custom functionality
  • Build custom Shopify “sections” to let non-technical staff/clients update content
  • Work with salespeople and project managers to clarify and document requirements for new projects or features
  • Create action plans that use off-the-shelf plugins to meet requirements, estimate hours required
  • Find and suggest alternatives/compromises to stay within budget constraints
  • Reproduce client-reported issues, diagnose root cause, suggest “fixes” w/ pros/cons
  • Work with and learn from our senior developers to expand your skillset

 

Requirements (in order of importance):

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Self motivated, self learner, expert at using vendor-provided docs and Google search
  • Able to work in The Woodlands, TX office during our “core hours” 9am - 3pm
  • Organized, especially when working on many simultaneous projects
  • Demonstrable knowledge of payments processing, inventory, shipping, fulfillment (1+ yr eCommerce exp preferred)
  • Experience integrating an eCommerce platform with other disparate systems
  • Experience with a templating language (Shopify “liquid”, Mustache, Handlebars, etc)
  • Desire to learn to code front-end javascript “web components” using StencilJS
  • Working knowledge of the DOM, vanilla javascript or jQuery

 

It’s a plus if you have experience with these:

  • Working in an environment where clients are billed hourly for your work (agency, freelance, etc..)
  • Giving talks/presentations, and enjoy doing it (we are big on knowledge sharing)
  • SCSS / SASS / any other CSS preprocessor
  • Styling a page using CSS, without modifying any of the underlying HTML
  • Building front-ends using transpiled JS frameworks (Ionic, Angular, Stencil, React)
  • Understanding of security best practices in eCommerce for PCI compliance
  • Git
  • Magento 2
  • Amazon Web Services, AWS Amplify, Lambda, NodeJS
  • LAMP stack (though we’re phasing this out)
  • Writing MySQL queries to extract financial/inventory reports from sales data
  • TeamWork task management system
